You know all of those funny cartoons you see about Canada; the ones that joke about how you can get sunburn and frostbite within days of each other?
Well, that's how I feel about being a mom some days...and it seems to be more frequent lately. Don't get me wrong, I always love my girls, but some moments are definitely "warmer" than others!
One minute I will be getting one of Myka's famous snuggles and feel like the luckiest mom in the world...and the next minute she'll dive bomb my face for an overly aggressive kiss and almost break my nose.
At 8 am, Myka and Danica will be playing "horses" perfectly content in their bedroom...and by 8:10 they are hanging on my legs whining for a cheese string over and over and over. To them, "no" means ask in a louder, whinier voice (we are working on that!).
Two days ago, they were watching cartoons in the morning. They were so engrossed with it and quiet that I thought it would be a nice time to run a bath and read my book. I don't know what I was thinking. The bottom of the tub hand't even filled with water before I had two naked kids in the bathroom saying that it was THEIR bath!
One day I have to chase them down to get even the smallest hug...and the next day I sustain internal injuries from their knees and elbows jumping on me all day.
Today was a warm day. Daniel's grandparents are visiting his uncle and aunt in Tumbler Ridge, and tonight they all came to our house for dinner. Daniel's birthday is tomorrow, so we spent part of the afternoon baking and decorating his cake. I think the girls did a fantastic job :)
We spent the rest of the afternoon making spaghetti and catching up with our family. I absolutely love having people over for dinner and visits...and it's even better when it's family that you don't see very often! The girls love when they get to see Great Grandma and Grandpa, and today was no exception.
Finally, after almost two hours of at least 3 kids trying to sneak food while we were making it, we fed them and were ready for cake :)
After the girls gave Daniel their gift, which they signed "love, your girls" (adorable!), I snapped this photo of them. I know I'm biased, but I could stare at it forever. The fact that I managed to get Daniel smiling in a photo is amazing in and of itself. It's just perfect. I love each of them so incredibly much.
I love this one too! I've been hoping to get a photo of all four girls with their Great Grandparents for some time now, but it hasn't worked that we've all been in the same place at the same time. Tonight it did...and I LOVE the photo :) Is it just me, or does Danica look like she's about 8 here? They are all growing MUCH too fast!
Aaaah, I can't even handle the love I feel from writing this post. It was a GOOD day.
Happy Birthday tomorrow Daniel! We love you!
