A few days ago, Fawne wrote this post. The general feel of the post is how sometimes it's nice not to talk about the "deep issues", but instead to just get to know each other as the women we are...the everyday things about each other.
So today, I thought I would have my cup of coffee with Fawne, and with all of my other friends who read my blog, and talk about my every day life a little bit...the "boring details", which maybe, aren't so boring?

We've had lots and lots of snow in the last few weeks. It makes some things hard, but I still love how beautiful it is! |
The first item in her post is "how you do your hair".
I think it's safe to say that my hair has been in a ponytail for at least 90% of my life. Not even my grown up life either! My mom used to always bug me for wearing it up....she tried encouraging me to wear it down, but it just always really annoyed me, so I very rarely did. It's actually something that I really don't like about myself at all. Whenever I look at old pictures I think "I would look so much better with my hair down!" But, when I decide to actually wear my hair down, it annoys me SO much! Seriously, I'm doing good if I make it to 3pm with my hair down. I have been trying to make more of an effort lately, and I didn't think it would be this much of a challenge...but for me, it is. I think it has something to do with my short forehead, so my hair is always falling right in my face.
Maybe the more I do it, the easier it will get....I sure hope so at least!

A couple of days ago it was finally warm enough to let the girls play outside. Danica insisted on wearing Daniel's toque :) |
"How do you wash your pots and pans?" It depends how many I have. If there is just one or two, I fill the big pot and use that as a "dishpan", but if I have a large stack of pots, pans, and mixing bowls I will fill the sink and do it that way. Also, if I can fit it in the dishwasher, I will!
We have to buy our water to fill the cistern, so I tend to be a bit stingy on water usage in the house to see how long we can make a load last. I have a feeling though that with four girls growing up fast, it's going to drastically change soon and we won't get long out of a tank of water!

I started babysitting three extra girls three days a week. I have these two during the day, and their sister comes on the bus after school :) |
"Do you place your silverware facing up or down in the dishwasher" When I was a teenager, one Christmas day while we were making dinner, my mom reached into the dishwasher to grab a plate and stabbed her arm with a knife that happened to be sticking blade up (accidentally). She had to go to the ER, and I always remembered that, and so as a result, I have just always put them facing down. Actually, it's only been for the past year, because I only got a dishwasher last October. Before that, I had washed everything by hand for most of our marriage (besides a 6 month block of time that we owned an old detached dishwasher...but it broke :().

The other day at Walmart, Tegan started flipping through and Archie comic. It reminded me of me as a little girl...I used to read these all the time! |
Oops, I missed a couple from the beginning of the post!
"What do you make for supper?" I'm not a fancy cook at all, and Daniel grew up as a meat and potatoes guy, so we eat a lot of roast or steak and potatoes. However, since we've been married we have found that both of us love Mexican and Southwest food. As of right now, black beans are one thing that EVERYONE in the house loves, as well as most other taco ingredients, so we eat southwest style food at least 2-3 times a week here. Also, pretty much everyone in the house prefers cheese quesadillas to grilled cheese, so we do that lots too. Grilled cheese on bread is rare in this house :)

Haha, the caption possibilities for this photo! Danica, I love you :) |
"What kind of shampoo do you use?" I prefer salon brands, but I only buy them if there is a sale on a 2 pack at Christmas, or if I see them at Costco, and only if it's the big bottles, because they last me 6 months or so!
"Do you ever get headaches?" Yes I do. Tension headaches mostly. Apparantly most of them were a symptom of the inter cranial hypertension that I was diagnosed with in September, but now that it is pretty much gone, some headaches still linger. I can pretty closely relate a headache to how stressed I have let myself get that day and if I didn't drink enough water.
Also, I have found that running really helps when I get those ones...even though I have to force myself on to the treadmill!
So, there is a little about me and my day to day life :) i'd love to get to know more of the little things about my friends too, both friends i've known for a long time, and new friends!

I read Fawne's post the other day and now yours, what a neat idea! It's fun to take a peek at the day to day sometimes :)
ReplyDeleteAwwww....you made my day! I loved hearing how you "do" life. And I love your heart too!
