My heart is full this week :) While there are some sad things happing in my family, some great and wonderful things are also happening!
I have been reminded many times this week that God is good. All the time, God is good.
I often feel like I'm falling so short. Sometimes in little things, like housework...other times in bigger things, like this week when I threw an adult sized temper tantrum because the girls' room was a disaster 1 day after I had spent an hour helping them clean. I felt like I had let my gils down for letting them see that side of me...and I felt like I had let God down. I hadn't even tried to control my anger :(
But despite my failures, deep inside my heart, I KNOW that God loves me and is taking care of me and my family.
Just like we would do anything to protect our children, and say things like, "it's a good thing they're so cute!" when they are misbehaving....it blows my mind to think that God loves us SO much more than that. He created the entire model of parents and children and family so that we could get a small sense of His amazing love for us.
I saw a quote this week that really touched me and reminded me of this.
"He died, not for men, but for each man. If each man had been the only man made, He would have done no less." -C.S. Lewis

This week I'm thankful for:
1. Our Christmas tree :) It's perfect, and was so fun to decorate with the girls!
2. Being able to go to celebrate my niece's birthday before she left to move to Australia. It was such a fun birthday party!
3. Being able to spend so much time with my sister...watching tv after the kids went to bed!
4. Getting our salt dough ornaments painted....it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here!
5. That two more teeth of Danica's popped through. Although today she's cranky again, so I think more are on their way...
6. That I had the motivation to reorganize the playroom today.
7. Fajitas!
8. That my Christmas cards are almost ready to be sent out! Just a few more to address, and put the Christmas letter in, and they'll be good to go :)
9. Oil of Oregano...it's really helped my girls not get sick much this year!
10. Vitamin D...for the same reason as the oil of oregano. The couple times we have been sick, it's only lasted a day or two!
11. My new envelope system that I bought off of etsy. It's 6 cloth pouches inside a big one, for budgeting out my cash and stop using cards! And it's so pretty!
12. That my grandma and grandpa made it safely to Claresholm to drop off Alexa :)
13. Christmas music
14. Soup...I love making soups, because there is so much room for "creativeness" aka: I can use whatever is left in my cupboards :)
15. That we have a cozy house, cause "baby, it's cold outside!"
16. That I successfully folded and put away the 6 or so loads of laundry that had been piled in my bedroom for much too long. An embarassingly long amount of time :( I mean, what did we even WEAR during that time? LOL
17. The headway we are making in paying off our debt. It's the most liberating feeling EVER!
18. That the Purdy's chocolate orders came in this week at the school...yes, I'm very thankful for that!
19. Random comic relief during the day...like when Myka thinks Danica wants to give her a "horsey ride" while she's crawling :)
20. That we recieved a letter from our sponsor child this week. The girls absolutely love hearing from her! They get so sad when we can't send her things like toys and food :(
We have taken the financial peace university from Dave Ramsey. It was great! and we have paid off all debt and are even saving quite a bit each month!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, I am so embarrassed about how long my laundry sits. I don't mind doing the laundry, it's the folding and putting away part I hate. Currently I have three loads in my bedroom needing to be folded. Sometimes I wonder how we manage to wear clothes! lol
