Whippin Pens

Do you ever have one of those days where you are rushing around so fast that you don't even notice you did something?
If that made no sense...allow me to give an example. It happened to me today at the post office.
I was trying to get mail sent and groceries bought before I had to pick up the girls from school, so I was in "GO GO GO" mode, to say the least.
I rushed into the Post Office and headed over to the little table to address my package. There was already a lady there, so I used a tiny corner of the table and the little pen attached to the string to write on the envelope.
Impressed with my speed writing, I set my pen down and rushed into line. Or at least I "thought" I set my pen down.
Before I knew it, the lady I had been sharing the table with tapped me on the shoulder...I turned around to see her looking very defensive, eyebrows raised and all.
"Uh, are you mad at me?" She asked.
"No, not at all! Why?" I answered.
"You just threw that pen at me!"
"Oh no! I'm so sorry!" At this point, I realized that although the pen had a string attached, the string had come apart from the pen holder. And in my rush, I must have whipped it a little harder than I had thought. Oops!
I quickly explained this to her, and apologized again. Finally her eyebrows lowered...I think she believed me.
I just happened to be next in line....as I got up to the till, my favorite postal lady looked very amused.
"that was awkward." I said sheepishly.
"That was funny!" she said.
