Bye Bye Baby Weight

Six weeks ago, I decided that there would be no more excuses...it was time to lose the baby weight.
Before my first pregnancy 6 years ago, I was 145 pounds. A few months after Danica, the fourth, I was 190 pounds. I know it's not an alarming gain or anything...it's pretty normal for having 4 kids in 6 years. BUT, I still don't want or need that extra weight. My ultimate goal is 150 pounds.

I have heard so many amazing things about Weight Watchers, so I decided that's what I would use to lose the weight.
Six weeks in, and I would recommend it to anyone :)

I love it because it doesn't restrict any one food or food group (eg: no carbs, or no sugar). Instead, it teaches you how to eat all foods responsibly, and in a way that benefits your body.

So, if I want to use my 38 points (on the breast feeding plan) a day eating a couple pieces of frosted cake (12 points each), and hotdogs (9 points each), I totally can, but I'll spend a good part of the day hungry.
Or, I can choose a little differently and choose lower points foods such as veggies, eggs, oatmeal, chicken breast, brown rice, etc, and spend the day satisfied while staying in my points.

Now, this might seem like common sense...it's a pretty extreme example after all :) I mean, why would you pay someone to tell you to eat less?
But as my husband would say, "there's just something about assigning a points value to food..."

It makes me think about what I'm eating. If I'm snackish at bedtime, I'll eat a bit of air popped corn where I used to want cheese covered nachos....now I can't help but think about how many points it will put me over to eat the nachos.

The other great thing is that everyone gets 49 extra weekly points to use at their leisure...these can be for a meal out (You'd be surprised how many restaurant meals have almost 49 points in one meal!), or for drinks with the girls on Friday night...whatever you want. This keeps you from feeling deprived and gives you something to look forward too!

Also, I get points values for exercising that I can later trade in for more food points if I wish. I haven't traded them in yet because I want to keep my weight loss as high as possible, but trying to get 6 points a day for activity really is a great motivator to go for an evening walk or do a workout video. I've become alot more active since I started!

Anyway, that was my super long way of saying that I love weight watchers, have lost 10 pounds in 6 weeks, and will post a new picture every 10 pounds as motivation to keep on the program!

The first picture kind of embarasses me to post, but here it is so you can see the progress.

  2. Congrats! I think that would be my plan too since I'm a rule-follower. If you give me a limit to my points each day I'll follow the rules, even if I end up hungry because I splurged on dessert!
