Green Eggs and Ham is the first book I remember as a kid. My mom read it to me often, and she always read it in a silly voice...I could tell she loved the book as much as me!
Our Dr. Seuss book collection grew to be quite large. I learned so much from them...like how to make crazy omelettes, how to build a great zoo, and that green eggs and ham actually taste good.
Now that I'm an adult (and inherited most of our book collection), I can really appreciate the life lessons that Dr. Seuss filled the books with. I especially like reading the Sleep Book to the girls. The only problem is that it works better than any sleeping pill and almost knocks me out before I'm done reading it to them :)
Happy 108th birthday Dr. Seuss!
Here are some of the values I hope my girls pick up from reading these books:
To Be Creative.... |
To be confident... |
To be honest and speak with integrity.... |
To stay in school :).... |
To pray and read their Bibles, because all of the answers are right there. Simple!.... |
To treat others well and value ALL life.... |
To strive for more than "going with the crowd", and be original!
My favourite from him was: "one fish, two fish. Red fish, blue fish". :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I was learning to read, I hated it. My first Dr. Seuss book showed me reading is fun. I started my kids on Dr. Seuss as well. We are a family of readers, thanks to Dr. Seuss.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Angie... HOw come addison missed out on the photoshoot with the girls, was she sick
ReplyDeleteshe wasn't sick, but it also wasn't a formal photo shoot...the other three girls just randomly had their princess dresses on throughout the afternoon, and Addison was busy doing other things and never put hers on. We'll have to do a more organized one here soon!
DeleteI love those quotes. :) They're all simple, but true.
