I found this mobile pattern in the last week or so of my pregnancy with Danica and knew that I HAD to make it.
I started about a week after she was born. the birdies are hand sewn, so I used the opportunity to teach Addison and Tegan a little bit about sewing. They were a big help :)
I am really in love with the way they turned out, although even with wire holding them on, it's difficult to keep everyone upright and balanced on the branch..I did my best though :)
It took me about 3 months to actually get around to hanging the mobile. Sewing them took almost no time at all, but like I said, balancing them was a challenge, and in my frustration, I kept putting it off!
Here's the finished product!
I leaned this little guy back a bit, so you can see how I wrapped the wire through his tummy (ouch!) and around the branch to attempt to keep him upright.
It's a fun, fairly simple project, and I'm glad I did it! It was an awesome way to use up scraps of fabric..and the birds are stuffed with the scraps that are left over from the serger.
If you make one, i'd love to see it, so please come back and leave a comment with the link!
So sweet! Be prepared for others to ask you to make them one!
