I don't know about you, but I tend to cook my roasts the same every time, and even though I love roast beef dinner, it can get a little boring. On the other hand, I have a husband who likes tried and true recipes that he has enjoyed his whole life, so I have a difficult time breaking out of the "cooking rut".
Yesterday, I decided to take the plunge and try this one though...it looked simple enough, the ingredients weren't too far "out there", and I happened to have them all on hand!
I am VERY glad I tried it, and the whole family liked it so much that I'm posting the link here so you can try it too!
It was the perfect balance of good old roast beef dinner and "wow". The beef turned out super tender and soaked up the flavour from the au jus nicely. The au jus didn't tasted "vinegary" like I though it might. Instead it was slightly sweet, with amazing flavour. I kept thinking that it tasted like something you would get at The Keg. I made gravy with the au jus as well, and it was just perfect on the mashed potatoes and yorkshires!
This recipe definitely stays in my kitchen :)
I saw this sign on pinterest the other day and loved it :) This weekend, we have just stayed home pretty much, and the girls have done a pretty good job of playing with their sisters! I have to admit, sometimes on the weekends it's easier to just let them play wii and watch movies, especially when it's cold outside. However I have noticed that the girls, Addison in particular, get in an irritable mood when they sit in front of the screen for too long. They tend to fight more with each other, they whine to me, and the general atmosphere of the house is unhappy. So, in an effort to curb this today, I let them play wii, but only for an hour in the morning, then the rest of the day I encouraged them to use their imaginations and play with each other. They did a great job of making up games that entertained all four of them! And, when they all got a little cranky mid afternoon, I kicked them outside with their sleds :) I really enjoyed standing at the window watching Addison and Tegan pull their younger sisters around the yard! They have tomorrow off of school too, so we'll see if everyone is in a better mood again with the tv being off.
That's all for now! I hope you had a great Sunday :)
Oh yes, I definitely notice when my oldest has too much Wii or tv time. It's like the wires in his brain get crossed and he can't get sorted out :( We've started being really strict about how long he can watch/play and set a timer (more for Mom and Dad than for him!) so he doesn't go too long.
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to when my kids want to play the same games as me. Texas Hold 'Em anyone?
