I am going to try and relay this story as accurately as possible because it's SO funny. I think it will be best told in the form of a dialogue.
The setting: Brewsters restaurant in Airdrie, AB (they have the best food, btw)
The background: during dinner, grandpa is trying to convince Addison that staying at their house is waaaay cooler than starting kindergarten in September.
Grandpa: You don't need to go to school, Addison. You have your whole life to go to school!
Addison: I'm going to school, Grandpa
Grandpa: But you should just stay a kid and stay here and play with me!
Addison: No Grandpa, I'm going to school!
Grandpa: If I buy you a horse will you skip school and stay here?
Addison: Nope, I'm going to school!
At this point, Tegan pipes up: "you can buy me a horse and I won't go to school Grandpa! Buy me a baby horse :)" After the laughter dies down and the food comes, the conversation continues....
Grandpa: Addison, if I give you $40 will you stay home?
Addison: Ummmm, no, but I'll bring you for show and tell!
Grandpa: If I buy you a build-a-bear will you stay home?
Clearly a build-a-bear is waaay more enticing than a horse, because Addison agreed!
As Grandpa shares his victory with the table, very proud of himself, Addison walks around to me, and whispers in my ear:
"I was just teasing Grandpa, but....I think he'll still buy me one"
I think I had tears streaming down my face then!
After some more bargaining, this is how the deals broke down
Addison would skip one week of kindergarten to come to Grandma and Grandpa's....Grandpa will buy her a build-a-bear
Tegan will retire her blankie (which is falling apart anyway) and trade it for a build-a-bear.
So, after supper, Addison, Tegan, Grandma, and Grandpa piled into Grandma's "race car" to drive to build-a-bear and hold up Grandpa's end of the deal! I'm still waiting for them to come home :)
I cannot imagine life without my girls....honestly, you can't just make this stuff up!
Love you Addison and Tegan!
Beautiful pics!!
