I'm on my way. This morning started really, really early with a drive to FSJ and a trip to tim Horton's for coffee. I spent my last few minutes in the -26 weather with Daniel, who I can't say enough good things about right now. Not only did he buy me a ticket so I could go see my sister, but he is spending his week off watching our girls. Everything from getting them ready for school to cooking for them...he is amazing :)
I had a really hard time leaving this morning. Not because I'm not excited for my trip....I definitely am, but because I am not really excited to leave Daniel or the girls for the next 8 days. I wish I could have packed them all in my suitcase and brought them with me! I know the girls wanted to come too...its been three years since they have seen their cousin Alexa, and they never have met Ryker. One day maybe we can go as a family....heck, one more kid after this and we could even get a group rate on a flight!
Despite feeling sad that I'm leaving my family for a week, I'm also so excited that my tummy is fluttering (or maybe that's the baby making itself known :)). Jael and I had our regular "sister" moments growing up and into adulthood, but despite any times that we have not gotten along, we have remained great friends and I love her so so much. Her moving to Australia was an amazing move for her. Its perfect for her over there and I'm so excited she took the leap and did it. I just wish Australia was much much closer sometimes, because it is really hard to not see her. I saw her two years ago, and it was awesome....and after this visit it will probably be a long time before we see each other again. I feel so blessed to be able to go now, and I am super excited to meet her newest little baby :)
Before Jael moved to Australia, I used to dream about trips there in terms of beaches, sightseeing, and scuba diving. Now all I want to do there is sit in my sister's cozy kitchen or in her backyard and drink tea with her while watching the kids play and the tropical birds fly overhead. That's what we did when I was there 2 years ago and it was awesome :)
Right now I'm almost in Vancouver. By 1pm I'll be in LA, where I get to hang out and read or people watch until 10 pm. Its going to be a long day, but I think it will also be pretty awesome. I just can't wait to get off the plane in Sydney tomorrow and see my sister standing there (unless the baby decides to come before that!). I'll be there soon, sister!!
