Then Myka repeated it. "crap!"
Me: "Oh no! Myka, I shouldn't have said that...don't copy me."
Myka: "no mom, I said crap!"
Me: "I know, please don't say that, it's not a good word."
Myka: "no, I said crab! Like crab meat!"
Oh. Well that's ok then....
P.S. My awesome husband happened to be working in town and brought me cash so I could buy groceries to feed the family :)
Oh, and another quick story, this one about Danica. She has started saying the word "what" a lot, and it can be SUPER cute.
Yesterday Aunty Angela was sitting in the living room and Danica came up to her and started chatting. Somewhere in the conversation she said, "Emett?"
Angela replied: "Emett? I don't know (looking around) I think he's in your room."
What followed was priceless and I'm not sure I can describe it in a way that will give it justice.
Danica, who had been looking down, looked up with a stone serious look on her face and said "WHAT." No question, just a very dramatic, poignant statement. She then took off running down the hall with her arms stiff at her side, leaving Angela and I holding back tears of laughter in the living room.
You probably had to be there. I wish I had been videoing!!! Aggh!

I LOVE when Aislynn says, "What?!?" She says it with such surprise and wonder and at the most perfect times.
ReplyDeleteFor example, Cuinn and I were in the car, and I was talking about an incident that happened at a mommy group. The story ended with Aislynn having a full diaper and blaming another child. It was really cute, and I just wanted to share the story with her daddy.
So at the end, I said, "So basically, our kid totally blamed the nasty smell on some unsuspecting child who couldn't defend himself."
To which Cuinn said, "Like father like daughter."
and Aislynn yelled out, "WHAT?!?"
It was so cute and so hilarious. Probably a "you had to be there" moment, but it was just the cutest thing ever.
Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog! You have a lovely blog over here...and I love your honesty and vulnerability in your posts. This one was both insightful and entertaining. From "Crab" to "What!" Although I don't have kids yet, I look forward to these days to come as they learn to express themselves and take cues from our own ways of speaking. (Will need to eliminate "Crap" from my vocabulary, too!)
