Sharing Our Week

First I'll tell the story of yesterday and today. It ends well :)

Yesterday morning Daniel left for work at 5am for a 36 hour shift at an oil lease. Precisely at 5:40am I was woken by a banging sound, which to my dismay, I learned was coming from our furnace. I shut it off and went back to bed for a couple of hours, knowing that I would have a super busy day ahead of me.
We have a pellet stove, so I knew that we wouldn't freeze....but it has been acting up lately and I know we can't rely on it either :(
Long story short, I asked our neighbour Matt to come over and help me take apart the furnace so I could go try to find  new motor for it. He ended up plowing our driveway with his tractor too! Such a blessing :)
Because it was Sunday, there were no furnace stores open, so I supported Canadian Tire by buying a few electric heaters to get us through the night...and on the way out of town we stopped to get our Christmas tree, which sparked some Myka/Danica drama in the No Frills parking lot, woohoo!

Then came last night. Thanks to the temperamental pellet stove and recently purchased heaters, the house stayed fairly cozy and I was looking forward to a quiet night...even though Daniel was gone for it.
Not to worry though, Danica made sure I had LOTS of company, ALL. NIGHT. LONG. I am not even exaggerating when I say that neither her or I slept at all until 5:30 this morning. I strongly suspected an ear infection, and did my best to keep her comfortable until this morning. Also, if I didn't already know that she is a "particular"child, she reinforced it throughout the night. YAWN.

So this morning, surviving on about 2 hours of sleep, I got up, got the girls ready for school, and dropped them off on my way to the walk in clinic. They were half an hour late, but hey, they made it! LOL

All I wanted to do was spend the day snuggling in our jammies by one of the heaters, but first, town. I picked up antibiotics for a now-confirmed double ear infection for my poor Danica, found a new motor for the furnace (ridiculously priced, I might add!), and then finally at noon, headed home. That's when the headache started, and by suppertime it was pounding. I guess the last day and a bit had taken it's toll on me! LOL

I had wanted to run on the treadmill tonight, but with my head pounding it was the last thing I felt like doing. But...inspired by some of my fit friends (Jill and Chelsea to name a couple!), I forced myself onto it, even if it wasn't going to be the workout I expected.
As it turns out, it wasn't....it was even better! I stayed on there for an hour, and totally took away my headache. Weird, but awesome!

Anyhoo, there's a "day in the life" for you! Oh, and we also decorated our little tree this afternoon. The girls did most of the work and it looks amazing :)

Now...here's a few photos of what the girls have been up to this week!
This girl has gotten amazing at puzzles lately!

And this one would rather colour, which I love too!

Lately, popcorn has been the number one food group in our house :)

Casual and cute? I think so :)

Beautiful Myka!

I took this photo of Danica and her friend Pike while we were over there for  coffee the other day. Good friends!

The tree that the girls so lovingly decorated! It looks a bit better now that I've vacuumed and set up the tree skirt :)
