The Birthday Cake Dialogue

Today is Daniel's birthday...Happy Birthday Daddy!
Three days ago, this conversation took place.
Addison: Mommy, how many days until daddy's birthday?
me: 3 days
A: oh. Can we make him a man cake?
me: what's a man cake?
A: well, it's a cake, and it has a picture of a man's face on it.
me: really?
A: yeah, and it's black.......long pause.....and it has sprinkles! With his face on it.

So, if you were at a loss for what kind of cake to make for your dad?? There you go. You have the formula...As far as the expert says, I don't think the shape of the actual cake matters....so go wild with that! LOL

Lovely. Just Lovely

Thankfully I don't buy Costco size. Why? Because yesterday I did laundry, and like any smart mom of a two year old, I just casually set the laundry detergent on the bed when I was done. Yup, you read that right. So, about a minute after I had forgotten about it, I hear, "mauo" (smell in Tegan lingo). And right after...."mom! Tegan spilled the stuff!"
I ran in there FAST and sure enough, pretty much the entire bottle of detergent was spilled on the bed and carpet.
I have come to the conclusion that it is pretty much the worst thing that can get all over a carpet. Sure it's for cleaning, but can you say "never ending suds?"
I borrowed a friend's steam cleaner today, figuring a few extra swipes would suck it all up.
An hour later, after scrubbing with the furniture tool, soaking with a towel, and running the cleaner over it multiple multiple times, I was seriously thinking of just buying Jase some new carpet...it could probably be installed in less time than it will take to get all the soap up!
So, I will try again tomorrow....but I think it's just some sort of evil soap prank...you'll NEVER get it all!! Mwaa ha ha!

Happy Birthday Tegan!

Only one month after the fact this time, comes pics of Tegan's party!! We decided not to go big this year, since we have alot going on. I think the girls had a great time anyway though!!
I found these really cool cupcakes at Safeway...they are so pretty, even though you have to scrape a pound of icing off to avoid a sugar coma!!
How many boyfriends do you have? Notice the Dora pinata sitting with her...she enjoyed the whole party with us!
Yay for party hats!
Another one hitting the terrible two's...do you think I look too excited?
I found this at walmart...pinata fun with less mess than a normal one!
They pulled each ribbon off, hoping for the one that would open the trap door.
Woot woot!! Candy!
Which they are still eating, by the way :)

It's September Already? Really?

Well, this may be a little late then, but I'll post it anyway. Around August 9th, my girls went to their first fair!! The only thing they really wanted to ride was the merry go round, but they agreed to the bunny ride too. Actually, Addison really wanted to go on the ferris wheel, but one, she was too short, and two, I have a feeling that her feelings would change when she realized that she was a hundred feet off the ground!
Writing about this makes me wish summer had never ended...but with it getting down to minus 3 at night now, I think I'm going to have to face the fact that winter is just around the corner. I am soooo not ready for that! She was so huggy that day!
Tegan and my mom have really developed a special bond over the last few months...just ignore the look on Tegan's face, she's really happy! LOL

Not my Kid...but still Priceless

We all know mom's love to dress up their kids, but when your dad is a graphic designer, anything is possible!!

It all started with the innocent picture below:

And by the way, I don't know this baby...it just found my email address :)

Love in a Cup

The first time I ever tried one, that is exactly what popped into my head. I have never actually experienced a drink that, with the first sip, EVERY problem in my head simply melts away, and I can't help but say, 'aaaaaahhhhhh'. In February of this year, or thereabouts, I went to order my latte, and actually said nooooo! very loudly when she said they had stopped carrying them until fall. Since then, my Starbucks visits have dropped waaaay off. But that all changed today, when Amy told me that they were back!!!
So tonight I went...it felt so good to order it, and even better when I took that first sip. Everything relaxed, and for the next 10 minutes, I enjoyed every drop, of the creamy, hot latte. And now, I'm just counting down the minutes, and counting up the change, until my next moment in heaven!

Who Needs an Update?

Me (sheepishly raises hand). So, yes, Addison turned three, and that was three months ago. Lots of other stuff has happened since then, and I have just been plain too lazy to blog about it.
I don't have a camera cord again...maybe I should just go buy one!LOL
So, the summer has not been great...but God is really doing some awesome things through all the gunk, so no worries.
The girls are doing crazy things...and Tegan copies everything Addison does! She also turned two a couple of days ago. Unfortunately we didn't go all out, but I still did get some pics, which hopefully will be up shortly.
Talk to you all soon!!
